Big Band Living Legacy ProjectI’ve been dreaming about putting together this project for many years and it is finally happening! One week today on Monday, May 19th, at 8pm the Big Band Living Legacy Project will debut at Hunter College for a FREE performance! The purpose of this project is to celebrate, present and carry on the rich musical language of big band jazz, performed by original members of such classic big bands as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, and Benny Goodman. The repertoire will include hits and lesser known works by the genre’s seminal composers like Sy Oliver, Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Neil Hefti, Ernie Wilkins, Thad Jones, Bob Brookmeyer, etc… I hope you can join us for this memorable night of big band jazz!

Ryan Keberle + Catharsis will be touring Philadelphia, D.C., and Annapolis from August 14th-16th. Even more exciting, the one and only Scott Robinson will be joining us for this tour. If you live in one of these areas it would be GREAT to see you at the show. Or, if you can’t make it, please help spread the word – we are VERY excited to bring our music to you. The dates are:

Aug. 14th – World Cafe Live, Philly, buy tix
Aug. 15th – Twins Jazz, D.C., buy tix
Aug. 16th – 49 West, Annapolis, more info

I’ve mixed and mastered, specifically for digital download format, 3 live tracks from our performance on WNYC’s Soundcheck last spring.  This was a special live performance:  a real working band, playing our second gig of the day for thousands of listeners, and captured by vintage ribbon mics.  Download it on iTunes now!! You can stream it here
